Real Love

Topic of the week..."Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married Too." It's a great movie, a must see for anyone that has the desire to get married. While driving yesterday a radio announcer asks, "Why are so many married couples trying to get out of their marriage?" "Is the honor of marriage gone?" The inability to get through the busy phone lines made me reflect, amongst other things. Maslow's hierarchy suggests that we as individuals want to be accepted, valued, and secure. Self actualization is the last phase and usually happens after we make difficult, life changing decisions. Are we choosing to marry the right ones? A marriage is not one size fits all. The adversity and triumphs that we may endure may lead to sustainability in one relationship and dysfunction in another. In other words, just because a previous partner accepts you as you are it doesn't mean other partners will. Ultimately, it's who we choose, why we choose them, and when we choose them. I'm just saying people, we've let exterior influences contaminate our purest emotions for too long. Let's get back to the basics of real love.
